Association "Alternativi International” is looking for 4 motivated Bulgarian participants to take part in a training course in Birmingham, UK!

TC "All Different, All Equal Remastered Multimedia and Diversity Training"

Dates: 13-21 March 2016

Project description:

All Different, All Equal - Remastered is an extension of an innovative training programme for youth workers (Key Action 1 – mobility of youth workers) combining elements of diversity training with digital media skills (photography, video, editing, social media). The project is co-ordinated by Praxis Europe, a Birmingham-based youth-led community interest company recognised for its expertise in youth empowerment, in co-operation with partners in EU and South-East European countries.

The project builds on the success of the first ADAE programme which launched in Birmingham in early March 2015.

The main aim of the project is to train participants – 64 youth workers from different European countries (two-three per course to assure a balanced learning environment) – in the use of digital media tools in youth work, mostly through, photography, video, editing and social media to promote the positive image of cultural diversity. The project will also develop participants’ skills in facilitating intercultural dialogue activities for young people.

The project is composed of two courses: the first one in Pogradec, Albania (October 2015), will focus on photography, video and historical cultural heritage, whereas the second one in Birmingham (December 2015) will look at video editing and social media tools and contemporary cultural diversity.

Cutting-edge digital media facilities of the South and City College Birmingham, as well as the expertise of Praxis Europe and Youth4Society staff (Albanian partner organisation) will be combined in the project. For the UK course, we are planning to use Birmingham’s rich cultural diversity resources including visiting community centres and places of worship, in order for participants to discover the importance of cultural diversity in the UK. For the Albania course, we will use the cultural heritage sites of the Albanian border town of Pogradec, next to the Albanian-Macedonian-Greek border triangle.

Project objectives:

Project methods will include: intercultural dialogue activities, exploring UK and Albania’s cultural diversity through site visits and field work, digital media workshops and Erasmus+ project management and development workshops.

‘ADAE – Remastered’ aims at achieving a lasting and long-term impact: increased youth worker competences in promoting cultural diversity using digital media, increased quantity and quality of partnerships between EU and SEE youth organisations and increasing digital competence of young people through youth work.

Finances & Travel and Budget limits:

Accommodation, living and other project-related expenses: 100% funded by the EU. This includes everything except for travel costs.

Travel (flights, other means of transport) expenses are compensated (up to 100%), based on the actual expenses incurred and the distance from your location of residence to the location of the project (Birmingham, UK). Only direct travel from place of residence to Birmingham will be considered (no stop-over’s exceeding 12 hours). Only cheapest/economy class travel will be reimbursed, public transport only. Planned activities and schedule:

To really get the most out of your training course we will always start early! After socialising in the we'll start at 9:30am in the morning with energizers! Each day we'll have two main activity sessions that will be based on non-formal education and learning by doing. They will all be targeted to intercultural exchange, socializing, having fun and, of course, our main project's topic – using Multimedia and Diversity to help the youth leaders and young people. We'll all go to lunch and dinner together in the city centre and have coffee breaks during the day. If the weather is good we'll be doing some of the activities outside so that you could enjoy it to the fullest. Naturally, we’ll leave free time for you to relax in the city. In the evenings we'll have cultural nights (each country have to prepare for that), which will be followed by further socialising and having fun.

The main activities include:

  • Meeting, icebreaking, team building

  • Introduction and usage of YouthPass, reflections, evaluation activities

  • Country presentations of partner youth organisations, youth initiatives

  • Analysis of multimedia and diversity youth programmes in each other’s countries

  • Workshop on Multimedia training and funding opportunities

  • Learning how to use Multimedia to promote diversity

  • Group exercises, games, quizzes, simulations, educational activities on diversity;

  • Generating non-formal methods for teaching young people about diversity;

  • Movie afternoons on diversity. Making of a video on the topic

  • Setting further work-plan: preparing Erasmus+ projects;

  • Excursions to the city / sightseeing / visiting Europe’ largest library;

  • Playing continuous games such as “The Killer”, “Best buddy”, filling in “Gossip Boxes”, etc.

  • And of course HAVING FUN! Because that’s the key thing, isn’t it?
