Association "Alternativi International" is looking for motivated young person from Bulgaria to take part in a Long term EVS project in Poland.
Duration of the service: 01 March 2016 - 31 December 2016
Place: Krakow, Poland
Description of the project: „Youth for diverse Europe” EVS project will take place in Krakow, Więckowice located nearby Krakow andTychy. Project itself will be 18 months long, however the volunteer's activities at partner hosting organisationswill be 10 months long.„Youth for diverse Europe” aims at enhancing knowledge in the field of multiculturalism, European identityand solidarity, but also supporting people with disabilities and other marginalised groups. One of the primarygoals of the project is to enable young Europeans to gain new competences.Nine volunteers from Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania and Germany will beengaged in the project. Voluntary work will be realised in four hosting organisations: Internationaler BundPolska in Tychy, Wspólnota Nadziei Foundation at Więckowice, Gaudium et Spes Association and CzulentJewish Association in Krakow. Our partner hosting organastions aim at imrpoving the situation of thefollowing groups: people with disabilities, socially excluded groups, seniors and minorties.One of the volunteers will support Wspólnota Nadzei Foundation during his project. Foundation is managingthe Farm of Life in Więckowice nearby Kraków, which is found as an innovative project for adults sufferingfrom autism. In order to facilitate the process of rehabilitation, beneficiaries of the Farm of Life areparticipating in therapeutic workshops, but also grow vegatables and fruits at organic farm.One of the volunteers will undertake activities at Internationaler Bund Polska in Tychy. Volunteer will supportstaff in current projects addressed at long-term unemployed, people with bad economic situation, disabilitiesand seniors.Two of the volunteers will work at Krakow's Czulent Jewish Association. Activities undertaken by partner arefocused mainly on culture, community of Krakow's Jewish minority and enhancing tolerant attitudes inmulticultural society. Volunteers will support Sunday School, Remu Library, anti-discrimination workshopsand other projects performed by Czulent.Five volunteers will support Krakow's facilities of Gaudium et Spes association. Volunteers will assist staffduring occupational workshop and actively help in the process of professional and social recovery ofmentally and physicallly challanged groups in order to enable them to live self-sustainably in communitythanks to the competences gained during the activities.As EU established 2016 as the Year of European Identity and Solidarity and recent migration crisis in Europethat became a crucial test for Eupopeans, volunteers participating in the project will meet with migrationexpert (European Parliament deputee, political scientist or publicist) to discuss the aspects of multiculturality,social diversity, solidarity and European identity with the background of current politicial situation in Europe.As a result of the meeting, volunteers will prepare a poster with infograph summarizing the conclusions of themeeting. Moreover, participants of the project accompanied by local youth will create „Multicultural Cracow”treasure hunt scenario and invite young people to participate in the treasure-hunting event, which will befollowed by the summing-up meeting and discussion about diversity of Europe. We aim to reinforce the ideaof the treasure hunt in the board-game form, which will be used as a innovative educational tool in the future.
Profile of the participants:
Young people motivated to develop and share their skills and experience in the sphere
Generally the age limits are (18- 30 years old).
Volunteers will be chosen on the basis of their Curriculum Vitae, Motivation Letter and a Skype interview.

Health insurance: The volunteer will receive insurance for the full duration of the sercice.
Travel costs: 275 euro will be covered by the project.
Accomodation:
a) Volunteer will be accommodated in a room (in most cases shared with another volunteer) withaccess to kitchen and bathroom.
b) Volunteers will share a flat together, they usually have double rooms.
c) Flats are furnished and equipped with pillows, duvet covers, pillow cases and washing machine
d) Internet connection /Wi-Fi is not provided, however it is possible to arrange it (prices vary from 15-30 PLN/monthly per person).
Food money: Volunteers will get money for food every month from coordinating institution (around 350 PLN) + there maybe a possibility to eat meals in host institutions.
Pocket money: Volunteer will get pocket money every month - 85 euro (in polish zlotys PLN).Money will be transferred every month to volunteers.
The practical arrangements (working hours, days off, holidays):
- Each volunteer will work from Monday to Friday, 30 hours per week, that is, no longer than 6 hours a day. Usually from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m - Volunteers will have 2 days off per month (altogether 20 days throughout the project, which can be taken off monthly or all together for a bigger holiday). In all cases volunteers have to inform their hosting organization/ coordinating organization about their whereabouts. - All polish holidays are also free for the volunteer.
Language support:
Language support will be arranged by coordinating institution. Course will be held by professional polish as a foreign language teacher. Duration of the course depends on the length of the project. As a coordinating organization, we will provide other opportunities to practice Polish (tandem meetings etc.)
YouthCard:
It is a special edition card dedicated to people who participate in European Voluntary Service. It gives an opportunity to travel/ try out new things – all this the cheapest possible way. The card has to be given to all volunteers up to the age of 30, and is valid for one year (or until the last day before the volunteer’s 31st birthday.

Weather in Poland/Krakow:
As the weather here can be quite unpredictable, to get the best out of your Polish experience it is important to include both an umbrella and sunglasses, necessary equipment all year long, so warm clothes for winter time and some things for summer time.
During the autumn and spring the weather is often changeable – you are likely to enjoy moderately warm temperatures from April to June and from September to October, but it is also possible to see snow in April or people wearing short-sleeves in October. The weather in Poland is also characterized by transitional periods between the four seasons of the year.
Mentor:
The coordinating organization provides the volunteer with a mentor’s support who will help the volunteer set learning goals and together they may evaluate them after the project has finished. Also, the mentor can help the volunteer with emergency situations, such as going to the doctor.
