Association "Alternativi International" is looking for 5 motivated young people from Bulgaria to take part in a youth exchange in Spain.
PROJECT DATES: 07 March 2016 - 17 March 2016
PLACE: Jerez de la Frontera and Chiclana de la Frontera, Spain
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
Where is Europe going to? What are the values we Europeans are promoting? What kind of society we want to build?
There were some relevant values since Maastricht to Lisbon Treaty,... Is it the same way we are building or we are moving to new direction?
A current example of such a polemical debate is the issue of immigration and refugees.
Nowadays Europe is facing a great challenge coping with immigrants within Europe and our neighbours. The number of young people living in other countries is increasing every year taking advantage of their rights like to move freely in Europe, they are either working, looking for a job or studying abroad. Most young people don’t know their EU rights not how to advocate them.
EU Citizens are reacting positively and negatively to face immigration. Some support it and others look at immigration as a threat to their lifestyle. Also, they have different reactions regarding the country they come from, either from other EU country or outside EU.
Some people reject refugees, others support them and others ask themselves how they can help.
We can reflect on our past when, huge migrant movement were in Europe (especially after WWII) how we behaved, how the world behaved to Europeans?
In Spain, we are facing illegal immigration from Africa and South America many years ago, but they are not treated in the same way, there are some local ONGs advocating for integration into our society. Spanish refugee policy is also very controversial.
We have quite different answer to this challenge from the different EU states members. What is the role of EU commission on it? Are we giving an unified word to the world about it? Why the disagreement is looking bigger than when States/Commission deal to solve the crisis?
