Commitment: 3-4 days per week

Description:


"Alternativi International" is a youth non-governmental, non-profit making organization working in the territory of Blagoevgrad region. The main objective is to encourage personal and professional development of young people through non formal education and also the building up and development of active citizenship among them. The organization is working with the aim to develop intercultural dialogue and understanding between young people from whole Europe crossing all the differences. We are developing initiatives fighting the racism and xenophobia among youth from different religious, ethnic, cultural, geographical or economical background.


The internship description: Alternativi International is seeking a motivated young person to join our team for up to 6 months in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria. Blagoevgrad is the economic and cultural centre of southwestern Bulgaria with a population of more than 70 000 people. It has 2 universities-South west University and American University in Bulgaria. It makes is colorful and multicultural city with a lot of young people. The possition we offer is a project coordinator assistant. We usually run Erasmus+ projects in the field of youth-seminars, trainings, youth exchanges and EVS/European voluntary service/. From January 2016 our NGO will host 9 EVS volunteers and will organize several local, national and international activities.


Tasks: Helping the coordination of the EVS volunteers. Organizing local events. Communication with international partners, Looking for funding opportunities. Developing project ideas. Helping management of current projects. Reporting projects. Updating the web page and social networks of the organization. Implementing own projects and ideas. Providing important information to local students about EU programs and opportunities.


Requirements:

  • English: fluent, very good comprehension, written and spoken

  • Experience in an NGO would be a plus

  • Be able to take initiative and find creative solutions

  • Good organizational, time management and coordination skills

  • Handle complicated situations

  • Work well independently and in a team

Educational Background: The Intern’s university studies will preferably be in development studies, political science, administration, project management or EU studies.

Evaluation: The intern’s performance will be monitored and evaluated according to the process required by his/her school or university. The intern will have a mentor from the host organization to supervise his/her work on everyday basis.
